A Second Focus for Blogging
My first novel, a cozy mystery called The Copper Box, is coming soon! Mantle Rock Publishing, headed up by Kathy Cretsinger, will release the e-book in early May and the print book in early June. With that publication, I’m entering a new phase of my writing life and with it a new chapter in blogging. I’ll continue to post BibleBytes weekly. I’ll post On Writing at irregular intervals, usually on Wednesday.
A Blog for Readers
Without readers, writers would have a lonely life. And writers begin life as readers. For years I’ve studied the writing of authors whose work I admire. Sometimes I’ve been privileged to hear them speak, sometimes I’ve read their “writing on writing,” and sometimes I’ve simply wondered how they do it. So this blog is for readers with a focus on behind-the-scenes glimpses of the writing process: my own as well as that of my fellow authors. What you’ll soon see is that the process is different for each writer.
My First Guest
Next week I’ll post an interview with Gail Kittleson. You probably recognize Gail’s name from BibleBytes (previously TwitterBible). She has been a regular contributor, so you probably feel like you know her already. What you may not know is that she is also a published fiction writer. Her three books (so far) are set during World War II, and next week you’ll read about her writing process: where her characters come from and how she does her research.
Other Guests
I already have Karen Jordan, a nonfiction writer, lined up for an interview. I have other contacts I’m looking forward to hearing from, but if you’re a writer (or know a writer) who might like to be interviewed on this blog, please let me know.
Your Turn
If you have questions about the writing process (fiction or nonfiction), post them in the “Comments” section of this blog. I’ll do my best to find answers for you. Meanwhile, happy reading!
